Joints are true marvels of our body. Without them, we could neither bend a finger nor walk. We have a total of 140 „real joints“, i.e. joints with a gap between two bones, and 72 „fake“ joints such as the intervertebral disc. The largest joint in the human body is the knee.
Joints are the basis for our mobility and often our greatest physical weakness. In Germany, it is estimated that around one in two people will suffer from joint pain in the course of their lives, most of them from chronic, i.e. permanent, complaints in the back, shoulders, knees, elbows, fingers, toes or hips.
Pain in joints can be caused by cracks in the cartilage, for example, or by a reduction in cartilage tissue. This reduces the gliding ability between the bones and leads to painful friction. The pain can be permanent or only occur selectively, for example during certain movements. The result is a reduction in quality of life and restricted movement. This can lead to the adoption of a relieving posture, which in turn can lead to discomfort.
Anyone who has constant pain in their back, knee or shoulder not only adopts a relieving posture, but also generally moves less. As a result, the muscles that are supposed to support the joint become weaker. This can lead to an increased risk of accidents and injuries to muscles, ligaments and tendons.
Joint pain is not just a problem for older people, but can affect anyone - regardless of age, gender, weight, stress on the joints or whether someone tends to eat a healthy diet or not. However, there are factors that favour the occurrence of complaints.
Even if older people are more frequently affected by joint complaints, which are mainly due to wear and tear, there are people affected at any age. In addition to age-related wear and tear, the most common reasons for joint pain are incorrect loading, poor diet, bacterial inflammation, infections, diseases such as Lyme disease and psoriasis, as well as genetic causes.
In the case of joint diseases, a basic distinction is made between osteoarthritis, i.e. irreparable wear and tear, and arthritis, i.e. an acute inflammatory disease such as rheumatism. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which the body's own substances attack its own synovial membrane, for example. This results in inflammatory processes in the joint, which can lead to fluid accumulation (effusion) and painful swelling. If the inflammation is not stopped with medication, damage to the joints is the result.
While the aim of acute arthritis is always to reduce or completely stop the inflammatory processes with the help of various therapeutic approaches and medication, arthritic joints are often completely replaced by an artificial joint sooner or later. It is assumed that due to the flat rates per case, which determine how much money hospitals „earn“ from patients, many joints are replaced that have not yet been treated in any other way. In concrete terms, this means that not every joint that is replaced actually needs to be replaced.
The problem is that sufferers are often unaware that there are effective alternatives to joint replacement - first and foremost, the implantation of fine gold directly into the joint. This gentle form of pain relief or even complete pain relief is not recommended by orthopaedists or in specialist clinics, although the successes are known and recognised worldwide. Dr Endrizzi is a luminary in the field and has already successfully treated over 750 patients with gold.
Placing the fine gold pins around the affected joint does not take long, is painless and you can leave the practice immediately afterwards. The joint can be used again immediately. There is no severe pain, as is normal after the insertion of an artificial hip, for example, when inserting gold implants.
The procedure is carried out in Dr Endrizzi's practice under local anaesthetic and is minimally invasive, eliminating the risks of a general anaesthetic. This means that gold implantation is also ideal for people whose surgical risk is too high for a joint replacement.
No special follow-up treatment is required after the procedure, such as the lengthy rehabilitation that is usual after a joint replacement. No antibiotics need to be taken after a gold implantation and there is no known allergy to fine gold. Artificial joints can be rejected by the body in rare cases, but this is not the case with gold.
Another great advantage: the pain-relieving effect is long-term, often the pain disappears completely. And all joints can be treated, even the smallest joints such as fingers or toes.
